Worked example — computed, dated
The two answers, together, the way a first sale actually needs them. Assumes the standard most-categories rate, free shipping offered, and a tracked eBay label — the fast-branch setup. Your category or shipping choice changes the numbers; the decoder below recomputes yours.
You keep $56.50 — money available about 6 days after the sale
Sell it today, ship tomorrow with tracking, delivered in about 3 days: eBay releases the money about 2 days after the delivery scan, and the payout clears to your bank 1–3 business days after that. Ship the same item untracked and the keep is identical — but the date slides to up to 21 days. Tracking changes the date, not the dollars.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|

| Final value fee — 13.6% of the total + $0.40 per order | −$10.60 |

| How you ship | Money available | In your bank |
|---|---|---|
| Tracked (ship next day, 3 days in transit) | About 6 days after the sale — 2 days after delivery | About a week after the sale |

Recompute this sale with my numbers
The First 30 Days Kit turns one decode into the whole month: the day-by-day calendar (limits, holds, when cash actually arrives), the First-10 listing worksheets, the hold-avoidance checklist, the limit-raise playbook for days 30/60/90, and the fee-proof pricing sheet for the common categories.
Included in the $39 First 30 Days Kit
The final value fee is eBay's cut of the whole transaction and it comes off the top, before the hold. It is charged on the total amount of the sale — which is why 'free shipping' does not dodge it: the fee follows the total, not the split.
It is a planning figure for a small domestic parcel at eBay's label rates. Heavy or far items cost more; the decoder takes your real label cost and recomputes the keep to the cent.
